Acting President's Message
Kyu-Han Bae
Acting President
Korea Research Foundation
Welcome to the cyber KRF!
The Korea Research Foundation (KRF), founded on April 5, 1981, has made a remarkable contribution not only to the Korean research community but also to society as a whole, by supporting domestic and international research, academic exchange and cooperation, research data management, and various other academic activities.
With the emergence of the 21st-century information-driven society, the importance of knowledge, information, and academic research is growing ever greater. So are the roles of universities, research centers and academic support institutions. With this in mind, Korea needs to set the right course for future academic research and apply state-level efforts to help all researchers achieve their potential competence, in order to become a truly advanced world-class nation.
Toward that goal, the Korean government is working on the consolidation of the nation's three academic support institutions. KRF, which has accumulated academic support capability for the past 28 years, is preparing thoroughly for the consolidation so that the soon-to-be-launched institution can take firm roots at the earliest possible date as an organization that lives up to the people¡¯s expectations. KRF will also do everything it can do to minimize inconvenience and confusion that researchers may experience during the transition period, in close collaboration with the other two institutions to be consolidated.
Honorable researchers at home and abroad!
We are living a period of remarkable transition in the history of civilization where some countries and organizations survive and some others do not. I would like to request your untiring support and encouragement for the integrated KRF so that the consolidated institution can be as good as its name, by fulfilling its mission of academic research promotion for the sake of a truly advanced world-class Korea. The integrated KRF¡¯s work could plant a precious seed for a brighter future for our nation as well as our descendants.
