Program Purpose
- To solve complicated social problems in creative and rational ways by consolidating scientific rationality, humane imagination, and artistic creativity
- To draw up, analyze, and resolve major issues by establishing an "open-type joint research framework"
- To nurture mid-to-long-term interdisciplinary specialists by connecting the research and knowledge of present and future generations
Support Directions
- Pursue "seed-type business" in order to grow a base for interdisciplinary consolidation
- After 1 year of executing the "seed-type business" as pilot business, help upgrade the seed-type business into a "bud-type business"
- ¡°Bud-type business¡± can be pursued as plenary business for 3 years without prior planning
Program Scope
- Support Budget: Total KW2 billion
- Seed-type Business: KW1.3 billion (about 20 tasks)
- Bud-type Business: KW600million (about 3 centers)
- Designated Tasks for Moon-jin Forum: KW100million
Support Field & Objectives
- Support Field: The entire academic science area
- Consolidated research field of Humanities & Social Science (Interdisciplinary, Art & Athletic Studies) and Science & Engineering (Physical Science, Engineering, Medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Sciences)
- Applicant Qualifications
- Researchers must be attached to a domestic research institute and meet the standards of Article 5 of the Law on Credit Guarantee of Academic Promotion and School Expenses Loan and its Enforcement Ordinance. Applicants will have to organize a research team or a Program corps for the application
Support Scope (per Year/Task)
- Seed-type Business: Up to KW70million per research team
- Bud-type Business: Up to KW200million per Program corps(center)
Conditions for Organizing a Research Team
- The number of research team members should be more than 6 including the research leader (head of the research team or Program corps). Also, the ratio of researchers majoring in the same field should not exceed 70%.

- Eligibility Verification -> Panel Review (Individual¡¯s Review, Group Review) -> Comprehensive Screening
- Bud-type Business
Eligibility Verification -> Panel Review (Individual¡¯s Review, Group Review) -> Interview Review -> Comprehensive Screening

Others (Post Program Implementation)
- In the case of the bud-type business, a step-by-step assessment will be conducted in the 3rd business year, which could result in mandatory withdrawal from the program.
